If you are designing your own woggle, there are a few things you need to consider before you place an order for a laser engraved woggle:

Once you are ready to place an order, go to our Custom Woggle Product Page, choose the leather you require, the quantity you need (minimum order is just one woggle) and upload your design.
Once we receive your order, we will check to make sure your uploaded design will look okay burnt into a woggle. If we see any problems, we will get in touch and suggest what changes need to be made.
The artwork is then loaded into Lightburn, which is the software that controls the laser. The image is traced and converted to a vector image so that when it’s resized to woggle size, none of the detail is lost. Laser Power settings are then calculated depending on the leather chosen, some leathers require more laser power than others.
Our Clicker Press cuts out the woggle shape with ease.
A piece of leather from our extensive stock is selected; this is checked for any marks on the surface. Leather being a natural product some slight imperfections can often be found on the hides, we do our best to make sure that we work around these. The woggle shape is cut out using a very sharp steel press die and a hydraulic clicker press which applies 8 tonnes of pressure; this ensures the woggle shape is cut out cleanly with neat edges, the press also cuts out the holes for the rivets.
The woggle shape is placed inside the laser; this machine has a 60w laser and is currently used almost exclusively to burn designs into woggles. The woggle is held in a small MDF jig to ensure proper placement. The lasers' fan makes sure any smoke exits the workshop.
Making a woggle on a laser isn't a fast process, but allows for one off designs.
Once everything is in place, the Lighburn software sends the engraving commands straight to the laser, and it takes around sixty seconds to engrave the design into the woggle. The freshly lasered woggle will have a layer of soot on it, this is cleaned off using a soft damp sponge. Some leathers require additional cleaning using Isopropyl alcohol. The two ends of the woggle are then riveted together using one of our own embossed metal rivets.
