Designing a Woggle - Tips

Tips for Designing a Laser-Engraved Leather Woggle

Designing a woggle to be laser engraved onto leather isn’t difficult—but here are a few helpful tips to get the best results:

Keep it Clear and Simple
  • The engravable area on our standard woggle is 34mm in diameter—not a huge space, so it’s important to make the most of it.

  • Try to fill the available area, but avoid overcrowding or overly complex designs.

  • Designs with very fine details may be lost during engraving and won’t look as good when burned into the leather.
Text Matters
  • Capital letters are often easier to read and tend to stand out better.

  • Avoid overly decorative or fancy fonts—they may look great on screen, but are often hard to read when engraved.
Use Bold, Black and White Graphics
  • Your artwork must be black and white only—no colours, gradients, or greyscale.

  • Bold graphics with clear lines work best. Fine lines and intricate details may not show up well.
  • For inspiration, take a look at the bold logos in our Online Woggle Designer.
Choose Your Leather Colour Wisely
  • The laser burns the design into the leather, leaving a dark brown or black mark.

  • The lighter the leather, the more your design will stand out. Check out our Leather Colour Guide for more information on the available shades.
